The problem with taking vacation…

is that upon returning one must inevitably confront all of the work which has piled up while one has been gone. So anyway, that is my excuse for not blogging last week and I am sticking to it. Yesterday Sabrina and I volunteered through Disney to help out at the Aquarium of the Pacific for their annual Baja Festival. It was pretty cool to touch the sharks and rays over in the Shark Lagoon.

Tonight my friends have invited me to Johnny Depp’s Viper Room to see a couple of their bands Maxeen and Front Row for the Meltdown. It should be pretty cool as I haven’t seen FRFTM before and it’s been a while since I have seen Maxeen who have recently toured Japan with Blink 182. I am guessing they are a bit more polished after all of the touring they have done. I was hoping to catch them over in Europe last year, but it just didn’t work out.

Right now I am wrapping up my lunch break while listening to the recent broadcast of “A Prarie Home Companion” with Garrison Keillor recorded live at the Minnesota State Fair. It’s kind of a nice way to jump back a week and a half ago when I was up there and everybody I knew was spending too much money for their Pronto Pups while walking around in the sweltering sun. Makes me a little homesick again.

Ready for a summer holiday

I haven’t been posting much lately. I have been very busy with training my new back-up here at work so he can take care of some of my daily activities while I am away. Actually, I am trying to just turn some of those activities over to him so that I can focus on other things. This week though I am busy testing the recent changes we made to our Training System so that I can verify students and instructors will be able to successfully complete the training. I am busy training on the ATR courses aka Aquire to Retire where I get to learn about the world of accounting and the life cycle of an asset. Geez I am glad I didn’t become an accountant. There are about 35 of these course exercises to run through so I will be busy this week. Afterall, I still have my normal work load to deal with as well. At least I have my new guy trained up to the point where I only need to sit with him a couple times a day to answer questions and give him some direction. Hopefully they will make me the technical lead and give me some much need cash. Of course right now I am mostly just hoping that I am not outsourced. I think it is likely that if that happened though I would just be re-badged. Anyway, I had better get back to work as I have a lot to do before I leave for Minneapolis on Thursday for a much needed Labor Day vacation.
