It looks a bit strange since all of the plants are new and need to grow out, but here is our new front yard.

BTW, clicking this photo will take you to my photo archive at Flickr where I have added some photos from Christmas in Hungary. I wanted to use up the rest of my bandwidth allotment since the month is ending.

Eleven O’clock, tick-tock!

Sometimes technology can be great, and well, other times it can be a down right pain in the arse! I’ve just finished a long drive back from San Diego, followed by a nice two hour session getting our internet access issues resolved. I actually had to go into the office Friday night just in order to send some files to my boss that she needed. My internet access just suddenly got all flaky on me on Friday afternoon. I have been working with my new company’s desktop support folks to resolve a problem I have been having in connecting to their network. Not only did we not resolve the problem, but access to the internet completely started crappin out. The long and the short of it was that I had to reconfigure my Wireless router.

After a brutal commute down the I-5 in total gridlock, we had a good day in San Diego (although Sea World was a disappointment, thank God it was free). We stopped for dinner in Oceanside on the way back and had a lovely walk around the harbor afterwards (much talk of selling the house and sailing around the world for a year). I think we can both agree that you might want to eat at the Jolly Roger’s if you ever stop there. We did not, we ate at the Monterey Bay Canners. We thought the food was good and the wait staff friendly. Unfortunately, we both wound up feeling pretty bad afterwards. It would have been comic if it weren’t so tragic. I guess really it was tragicomic. The last five miles or so home we were both in excrutiating agony. The funny part was that as soon as it would pass for a moment for me, Sabrina would be writhing in pain. Then when she could start to relax, I was ready to drive us off the road it hurt so much. Luckily, we made it home in one piece. The nice surprise was that Antonio had been here and planted all of our landscaping out front. It looks a bit strange at the moment, and needs to grow in a bit more and then it should look very nice. i will post some pix of it tomorrow. I am going to sleep now before it gets any later.

The old adage of “be careful what you wish for” is so damn true. Seems like only yesterday I was lamenting the lack of stuff I had to work on in the office. Now, of course since I have volunteered myself like a bloody fool, I am completely swamped. Thus the reason it’s been a bit quiet here the last couple of days. It’s late and I am needing to get to bed, but it doesn’t look like things are going to let up much for the next couple of days. At least it makes the work weeks pass by very quickly. Tomorrow is almost over before it has begun. I will be working from home after lunch tomorrow as I need to be here for my guy to come over and help me connect up my new sink to my garbage disposal and such. That means I will be doubly busy in the morning trying to get things done in the office that are easier done there than from home. At least I have still been finding time to escape on my bicycle for some therapy!
The thing that I volunteered for has really been paying off I must admit. I proposed that I could help out the Security team at work and now they are saying such positive things that they are actively recruiting me to join their team. It’s a lot of hard work, but is providing a higher level of job security at a time that I really need it. I wasn’t too comfortable with my job role’s future as many of my responsibilities seem to be going away and others are shared with a co-worker. It is better for both of us this way. Plus, I continue to build my base of knowledge around SAP and make myself highly marketable. More importantly, if I can get serious BASIS/Security knowledge I will finally have at least one real core set of expertise instead of a little knowledge about a lot of things (which is the name of vessel I am currently piloting: the S.S. Jack of All Trades). I have some projects on my plate that I need to bring to resolution though before I can effectively manage my new workload. So, the next couple of weeks should prove quite busy. A welcome respite will be this Saturday when we are going down to San D to Sea World. It’s is part of the Mrs.’ marketing class and should be a fun time. Hopefully Sunday will be a day at the beach. That should recharge the old batteries and get things ready for the next week’s onslaught. Well, I am out. G’nite.
