August 2004

I haven’t been posting much lately. I have been very busy with training my new back-up here at work so he can take care of some of my daily activities while I am away. Actually, I am trying to just turn some of those activities over to him so that I can focus on other things. This week though I am busy testing the recent changes we made to our Training System so that I can verify students and instructors will be able to successfully complete the training. I am busy training on the ATR courses aka Aquire to Retire where I get to learn about the world of accounting and the life cycle of an asset. Geez I am glad I didn’t become an accountant. There are about 35 of these course exercises to run through so I will be busy this week. Afterall, I still have my normal work load to deal with as well. At least I have my new guy trained up to the point where I only need to sit with him a couple times a day to answer questions and give him some direction. Hopefully they will make me the technical lead and give me some much need cash. Of course right now I am mostly just hoping that I am not outsourced. I think it is likely that if that happened though I would just be re-badged. Anyway, I had better get back to work as I have a lot to do before I leave for Minneapolis on Thursday for a much needed Labor Day vacation.

This is a pretty funny story about an alchy bear in Washington.

I just came back from a lunch trip to the studios where we saw ‘They Might Be Giants‘ performing for our crew. It was pretty cool, but mostly just a reason to go out for lunch.

Went down to “Old Man’s” down by San Onofre. It’s a reef break over some shallow rocky areas, so I wasn’t able to try and surf the inside whitewate crap. I had to man up and head out to the line up. Man it was awesome. Definitely a lot more forgiving out there than riding the shorebreak anyway. It’s what we call a soft wave. I think next week-end I might need to head over to County Line. It’s a lot closer and now that I am feeling a bit more confident about my skillz, I am ready to explore some new breaks.
(note: I did and I suffered ;0)
